Courses and teaching
Martin Outram is Lionel Tertis Professor of Viola at the Royal Academy of Music, London. He is also in great demand as a chamber music coach and mentor.
He gives annual masterclasses as part of a well-established exchange with Professor Tatjana Masurenko at the Hochshule fur Musik und Theater Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy in Leipzig. He also receives regular invitations to give masterclasses at other major institutions in the UK and abroad.
He hosts an International Viola Summer School at Benslow Music Trust, Hitchin, Hertfordshire, UK usually during the last week of July. This course is attended by conservatoire students, professionals and teachers.
Martin also leads regular one-day viola courses for amateurs and less-experienced players at Benslow Music Trust, at Canterbury Christ Church University, in Ilkley, West Yorkshire and in Dorchester, Oxfordshire. These courses take place throughout the year and details can be obtained from:
